The technical support line will have been in operation for 10 years in May 2012 still operated by our resident expert Captain (Retired) Grenville Savage MBE to use his full title.
Grenville joined Cane Adam in March 1998. Before which he spent 22 years in the army. The last 20 of those years in the parachute regiment, having been promoted through the ranks to captain when he retired to emigrate to Canada.
During his time in the army he served several years in Palestine, Egypt, Cyprus, and Jordan and was awarded the MBE for service during the Cyprus and Suez operations in 1956. During his time in Canada, he worked with the city of Vancouver social services department.
Grenville returned to England in 1968 where he started his third career with mechanical handling equipment manufacturers, Lansing Bagnall. This lasted 22 years until he reached retirement age when he had progresed through the sales division to become UK sales office manager.
Unable to remain inactive, Grenville became a shop assistant for eight years for another decorators merchant, then to become a self-employed painter & decorator. Grenville then joined Cane Adam as a part time shop assistant leading to a full time position then manager of Basingstoke branch. Finally on to his current position as product helpline manager.
The helpline offers a dedicated telephone support service for products; Grenvilles department handles enquiries from other branches and customers, it also provides prices, details of product availability plus technical and health & safety information on all products we stock or can source.
